Parking meters bring in big bucks for Spokane

locomobi-spokane-logo-1500px

May 19, 2015 – Spokane, Washington

Spokane’s new smart meters are bringing in big bucks.

It’s been a tumultuous year for parking in Spokane. Residents, students and businesses were outraged when 500 new meters were installed on the lower South Hill.

“Well it’s a little bit of a surprise when you’re expecting not to have a parking meter and it shows up over night and it’s there,” said Spokane City Councilman Jon Snyder.

However, there’s also there’s also been plenty to celebrate.

“We’re seeing credit card usage at the meters that accept them at about 43 percent, so nearly half of the people that are using meters that have credit cards as an option are using that as their way to pay,” said Brian Coddington with the City of Spokane.

In addition to the credit card option, a pay by phone system called Quick Pay has been installed in most meters in the downtown core. The difference they are making is sizeable.

“So far, we’re seeing about nine-thousand dollars a week in revenue increases, about a hundred-thousand dollars year to date that we’re up,” said Coddington. “So it’s significant money that we can re-invest in the downtown area to improve sidewalks, to improve infrastructure, to improve streetscapes, so kinds of things that draw keep downtown and keep the downtown nice.”

The Davenport Grand Hotel will bring in another 45 meters to the system, which is expected to bring in another $45,000 for the second half of 2015.

About LocoMobi

LocoMobi, Inc. is reinventing parking and transportation technology in the era of cloud, mobile, low-cost hardware and Internet of Things.  LocoMobi was the very first to offer a cloud-based license plate recognition (LPR) system with a complete revenue engine that also provided a management system for virtual permitting systems, violation and citation management. The company also designed and implemented the first LPR-based system incorporating payment stations and barrier gates, which was integrated into a single cloud-based system.  A garage using a LocoMobi LPR system knows every vehicle that enters and exits and links all payments to the vehicle’s license plate.  For parking owners and operators, this is of immense value as they have full knowledge of and receive payment from every single parker. The revenue gains after deploying a LocoMobi system can significantly increase the value of the parking asset.

LocoMobi’s Mobile payment application, LocoMobi Quickpay™, also complements any parking facility as an alternative to the payment station utilizing the same rate engine and cloud portal. QuickPay can be used standalone, integrated with legacy hardware at low cost, or as part of a fully integrated LocoMobi system to deliver new value for drivers as well as parking owners and operators.

For drivers, the combination of LocoMobi’s QuickPay mobile technology and gate kit with LPR and product set leads to an ideal parking experience: a driver registers one time with the QuickPay app and enters his or her license plate and credit card. The driver then drives into a garage, LPR cameras recognize the vehicle and the gate opens automatically.  When the driver is ready to leave, he or she drives to the exit gate, the LPR cameras recognize the car again, bill the credit card saved to the QuickPay account, the gates open and the driver exits–all in a matter of seconds.  A similar system works in non-gated scenarios as well. For owners and operators, LPR transactions can now be linked to registered drivers, enabling customer knowledge and communications.

LocoMobi has also recently introduced a full system for in-garage guidance, significantly helping drivers find open spaces and minimizing time spent driving around looking for spaces. The process system even helps users locate their car upon return to the facility. And more recently, LocoMobi introduced fully-integrated reservations and yield management solution, enabling drivers to park with confidence and enabling parking owners and operators to maximize the value of every space.

LocoMobi’s product offerings are unique in their level of comprehensiveness, innovation, and price: installations typically have twice the functionality at approximately half the price of competitive systems. LocoMobi’s innovations have recently garnered worldwide attention when the Company was a winner of the award for 2014 TiE50 best new technology in the world, where over 2800 companies from 27 countries were considered. The awards were presented at the Annual TiE50 conference held in the Silicon Valley.

LocoMobi has partnerships with most of the major parking operators in the U.S. and Canada, and is deployed in parking garages and lots, hotels, malls and theme parks and on-street in major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

locomobi-default-new-image-600px

Locomobi Inc. is pleased to announce their latest victory this week while attending the Canadian Self Storage Association Conference! LocoMobi won best booth at the show in their newest venture into The Self Storage business!

LocoMobi, the top new technology company in the world kicked off their commitment in Ontario, Canada yesterday while attending and captivating the attendees of The Canadian Self Storage Association Show which is currently the largest self storage show in Canada, with record attendance this year.  LocoMobi’s latest addition to global markets continues to grow, just as the Company’s award winning cloud-based technology solutions.  “Each new additional market that we emerge into is a strategic, long term decision for the company and its shareholders.”  said Grant Furlane, Co-Founder and CEO of LocoMobi.  “We are aligning our technology amongst the most influential business industries.”

The company will continue to expand into many new diverse enterprises.  LocoMobi Inc has patented a gate-kit application which is perfectly suited for many different gated business solutions, not just parking.  The license plate recognition system was developed for several business models, including self storage.

“We are thrilled to have LocoMobi involved in our organization and excited to see how the LocoMobi products can compliment our industry” says Sue Margeson, Director of The CSSA.

This user friendly technology and software will change the game for self storage.  It can be quickly integrated with existing gates, keeping it affordable. Applications with no gates already exist!   Now, at the touch of a button and LocoMobi’s Quick Pay mobile app and portable kiosk, the customer experience will be seamless.  When the self storage unit is reserved, the license plate will be stored for a more efficient and secure way to enter the facility.  This is beneficial for facility owners, property managers, customers, and the ecosystem.  The solutions and applications are tailored to each specific need.

The cloud-portal reporting system, also ties to the license plate and benefits the owners and operators to manage revenues more effectively, while increasing security.

The self storage initiative was extremely well received! LocoMobi Inc., once again, made a big splash.  They took home the “best booth award”, to add to their recent collection.

LocoMobi Launches Springdale Professional Building With Advanced Parking Cloud-Solution

locomobi-springdale-432px
November 17, 2014 – Toronto, Canada

LocoMobi is happy to announce implementation of a gated parking and validation system for the Springdale Professional Building parking lot. Prior to contacting LocoMobi, City Core Developments saw an opportunity for improvement in their parking environment. The previous system was based on the more conventional Pay On foot systems used with ticket dispensers and ticket readers. The ownership group wanted more control and opted for License Plate Recognition technology with Cloud based payment stations tied to the vehicle license plate. Springdale Professional Building is located directly beside Brampton Civic Hospital (one of the largest hospitals in Canada), thus the parking lot was experiencing a high volume of traffic from patients, visitors, and hospital staff that were using the Springdale Parking Lot to avoid paying for parking at the hospital. Due to this increased traffic, both businesses and practices of Springdale Professional Building were finding it increasingly difficult for their clients to find parking. LocoMobi has provided a suitable parking solution.

LocoMobi has installed gates to the parking lots that prohibit parkers from leaving the lot unless they have paid. This will eliminate overflow from the hospital of parkers attempting to park for free. More conventional ticket dispensers can work but lost tickets, lending of validation ticket and cards open the possibility of circumventing the system. Given the value of every parking space the risk needed to be minimized. LocoMobi’s validation system will allow for each individual business of Springdale Professional Building to subsidize their customers parking with special rates. No tickets or validation stamps are required. It’s all Virtual. These organizations are also able to absorb the parking costs so their patients/clients can park for free. The License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, will allow each business to validate their patient’s/ customers license plate from the convenience of their office. Mobile payment and reservations will be added to the system to make it the first end to end solution manufactured by one company.

Pay-on-Exit system is available for parkers. Those who are validated for free parking by a Springdale Professional Building organization will simply drive up to the gate and their license plate will be recognized, instantly allowing the customer to exit without a parking fee.

“The launch of Springdale is the first cloud-based, pay-on foot, LPR, gated solution in the country” said Grant Furlane Co-Founder and CEO of LocoMobi. “We are truly transforming the parking industry into a smart city application.”

Overall, this system allows for more lot security and provides the customers of the Springdale Professional Building increased spaces to park. This is a launch of a completely remote monitored commercial facility requiring no local management.

Week(s) In Review!

locomobi-halloween-2448px

November 2, 2014 – Toronto, Canada

The only thing scarier than crazy parking prices? Our office this year =)

Okay, so not really. However, it’s great to see everyone in the festive spirit, and there’s definitely a lot to celebrate this past month!

First off, at the end of September our LocoMobi team had our very first company mixer to celebrate all the hard work, over the past few months. Our team all got together at our CEO Grant Furlane’s house, fully equipped with a swimming pool, bar service, live band, and dancing, it was a fantastic night! Even better, our teammates from our California office even made it to the event! And they left us a little gift: our newest addition to the Toronto Office, Paul Chapotet! More on him in the next Team-Mate Tuesday! More exciting news this month was our opening of our new technology centre, right here in Liberty Village! This new location will be the central hub of our newest parking innovations, and will be used to house, test and display our products.

The fun didn’t stop there! Just last week, the LocoMobi team made a show-stopping appearance at the National Parking Association Trade-show in Las Vegas! We showcased a few of our products including; QuickPay, our Licence Plate Recognition software, as well as our new parking guidance system!

That’s all for the month of October! Hope to chat with you guys again soon in The Conversation!

Week in Rewind: Attack on Liberty Village

locomobi-raptors-mascot-1500px

August 15, 2014 – Toronto, Canada

Hey everyone, LocoMobi’s back to catch you up in The Conversation!

So a lot happened this week! We just released a new product, the Bluetooth GateKit! This bad boy lets you enter a gated parking lot or garage through a CarKit installation in your car or through your QuickPay app – completely hands free.

You don’t have to enter any codes or swipe any cards. Just drive through; that’s what we’re talking about when we say “reinventing the parking industry”! You can read more about it here.

The GateKit wasn’t the only thing we introduced, however! We finally found some time to explore Liberty Village and introduce ourselves to our neighbors! Everyone in Liberty Village was really friendly (not surprising). For those of you who didn’t get a visit from Joel, Alex, or Eric, stop by and visit us any time!

Speaking of visits, we got a surprise one from the Toronto Raptors’ Mascot! He came in like a wrecking ball, did handstands, and gave us an autographed picture. Perks of having our office next to a marketing firm like Bond!

So inventing tech, making friends and raptor attacks. Yep, just an average week at LocoMobi.
